New Kuwaiti Justice Minister is Al-Qaeda’s financier

The U.S. authorities expressed their deep concern at the appointment of Nayef al-Ajmi as Kuwait’s justice minister and minister of Islamic affairs and endowments.

According David S. Cohen, the U.S. Treasury Department’s Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, the Kuwaiti minister is a pillar of Jihad international fundraising networks and promotes the funneling of donations to Al-Qaeda in Syria. Several hundred million dollars were donated by associations and Kuwaiti personalities since the beginning of the conflict, making the country the largest private contributor to the war.

Yielding to pressure, Nayef al-Ajmi resigned in early April. However, the government rejected his decision, keeping him in his post.
