President Barack Obama this week will announce a series of actions to help the economy that will not require congressional approval, including an initiative to make it easier for homeowners to refinance their mortgages, according to a White House official.

The actions come as Obama is facing resistance from Republicans to a $447 billion jobs package he has urged Congress to pass.

The first of the initiatives will be unveiled during Obama’s three-day trip to western states beginning Monday.

He will discuss the changes in mortgage rules at a stop in Nevada, which has one of the hardest-hit housing markets in the country.

Credit for essentials should be interest free.

Banksters should not be allowed to profit from one’s need for housing, transportation and an education that is required in this economy to become gainfully employed.

  2. The economy has been phony for years now. Western states like Nevada, Idaho and Wyoming, are states that have never built any kind of economic infrasctructure, have no real industry to speak of and rely mostly on bubbles like housing to artificially raise their standard of living. Here in Idaho, people were making their money via real estate. It was the only way to make decent money here and Nevada and Wyoming are the same way. When states rely on bubbles like housing to support their populations because they haven’t taken the time to develop a sustainable economy with good paying jobs, it is their own fault. You can’t rely on government jobs and real estate to support your populations and when you do, you show your true colors. Basically, states like these are welfare states and have been since their inception. These types of states rely on government programs and money to pump up their own state economies. The producer states like Texas and California have been supporting states like Idaho and Nevada forever. It’s time for states like Nevada to quit crying because the goose that laid the golden eggs is gone.

Yep. I live in WV and we produce a sh*tload of coal to surrounding states, plus trees, gas, chemicals.. you name it, but we get nothing for it. If we kept all the coal to ourselves there’d be a lot of people without electricity in this country.

  3. States like Idaho and Nevada are famous for low wages and stagnant economies. They think they can pay college grads $15 an hour. Companies only come here so they can cut their costs by paying less for the labor. It is hypocritical and sad to base your economy on higher education, real estate and government jobs while private sector jobs pay so low here. These states are happy to produce college graduates, many of whom pay for their education with federal tax dollars, or loans, because higher education is such a major part of their economy. As long as they have a steady stream of students to pay for their public employees with federal tax dollars they don’t care. They don’t care if they don’t have decent paying jobs for many of their graduates. All they care about is their college professors and administrators and any other public employee associated with their higher education systems is taken care of. States like Idaho and Nevada are backward. They have nothing so they try to piece together an economy with federal tax dollars, student debt, low paying jobs and housing bubbles.

  4. And now Obama is goin to Nevada to preach to the choir. It was the housing bubble that made many Nevada residents and of course it was the housing bubble that broke them as well. I repeat, you can’t base your public’s wealth on housing bubbles, higher education and government jobs while paying the general public peanuts. It is a failed economic model and will continue to fail. You can’t create wealth with government tax dollars, but these states seem to think they can.

  5. Basically this will be another bank bailout disguised as something to help “the people”

  6. And the government doesn’t care what state you live in, or what job you have, all they care about is that you work and pay taxes. They don’t care that you have an IT degree, but your state doesn’t have enough opportunities for IT graduates. They don’t care that the majority of IT graduates in Idaho are working in call centers doing tech support over the phone. They don’t care that the vast maority of IT graduates in Idaho are underemployed or not working in their field. In my case my wife has two degrees, business and accounting and has been a state employee for 23 years. Her income alone is over the median income in Idaho. Her income is $33 an hour. The most I ever made here was $15 an hour and when I made that she made $30 an hour. At $45 an hour, $12 was deducted for all taxes, state, federal and payroll. Again, all they government cares about is that you have a job and pay taxes, regardless if you are miserable while performing that job. Then you have to worry about the private sector not paying a living wage or just outright firing you for whatever reason they can dig up, because you see, Idaho is a right to work state and the employee basically has no recourse against an employer. So what we have is the US government and that stupid tax code stealing hard earned money from the people and redistributing it. In our case it was $12 an hour. Hey, why stay in a miserable job so the government can treat you like a debt-slave and take most of what you work for per hour? If you don’t need two incomes, drop down to one, be more conservative, save and invest what you can, pay off your mortgage, retire and get out of dodge.

  7. I saw nothing in the article about student loans.

from what I can see its the soon to be American King of Africa. His race should not be the issue. Being a NWO tool is.

  9. Why even have a Congress if they don’t do as the president wants he just bypasses and does what he wants anyways?

To Obama and gang it’s like they want to look like they are following the Constitution but only if the Congress and Senate d exactly what he says to do.

    That’s not democracy.. that’s dictatorship.

  10. DIKTATORSHIP:

Maybe some generous country will come over here and liberate us like we did to Iraq, Libbia, and all the other third world hell holes.

    Somebody??? Anybody??? Help!!

  12. We all know what the requirements will be for government handouts.

If you’re white, don’t bother to apply.
If you’re black, then “Hello, brother, how much you need?
If you’re an illegal Mexican alien, then it’s “Hola amigos, aquí está algún dinero”

  17. So, Aidan Monaghan, Could you please enlighten us as to what the heck housing has to do with gaining employment. I am a renter and don’t own a house and yes, I am gainfully employed. Just so you learn something while you’re here, the whole system is designed to make them money. Them being the banksters, maybe a better point for you to learn about is how we have let a private entity be the printer of our money. You may also want to try and figure out how there is more betting on derivatives than the entire worlds money supply. Go do some research now. See you in a few years maroon.

  18. I understand where you are coming from Monaghan but the money that the banks got from the bailouts is also intermingled with private citizens investments with those banks, I being one of them. I don’t want a bank I invest in loan money for free. What’s the purpose in investing in them if they are going to do that and the only money I ever loan out privately and interest free is to family and friends. Maybe we should just be able to walk into a grocery store (essential items) and gran what ever we need and tell the owner we’ll pay you next month. That is a form of socialism.
