Palin: US voted against corruption in DC

Former Alaska governor Sara Palin has warned Republicans that Americans were not necessarily voting for them, but they voted against corruption in Washington.

“Now, new Republican Congressional majority in the House and Senate, please realize that Americans were not necessarily voting for any party,” wrote Palin in a post on Facebook.

“They were voting against the continued dysfunction and corruption in DC,” one-time Republican nominee for vice president added.

Her remarks came after the Republicans swept victory in Tuesday’s midterm elections.

“So, establishment types, remember that you didn’t build this,” she said.

“This majority that swept you into power tonight is thanks to the rank and file commonsense conservative grassroots. That’s who built it. And they expect results. They deserve the best for America.”

Palin warned that just like the Democrats got “mauled,” the same thing could happen to the Republicans next time around.

“The Democrats got mauled today, deservedly so. To prohibit that from happening to the GOP in 2016, it must learn the lesson from the last time Republicans held the Senate majority. This time they must not retreat, and it’s our responsibility to hold them accountable,” she said.

The Republican Party secured a majority by picking up at least seven seats in the Senate in the elections.

The outcome foreshadows a tougher final two years for President Barack Obama under a greater Republican power and influence in Washington.

Analysts believe that the poll is a referendum on the policies of the president who has lately been facing a low approval rating which was mostly driven by concern over Obama’s economic record.
