NSW Police Commissioner Michael Fuller thanked Jeremy Jones, Director of International and of Community Affairs for the Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council, at the end of Jones’ long service as an advisor to the NSW Police.

In his citation, the Commissioner said “We admire your ongoing commitment and valuable contribution to the diverse communities of NSW” and your ongoing “advice and counsel to NSW Police Force”.
The presentation, in the Police Headquarters in Parramatta, came at the completion of Jones’ term on the Police Commissioner’s Multicultural Advisory Council (PMAC).
Jones served on the Advisory Committee on Culturally Responsible Policing for its full term, from 2010 until 2013, and on its successor, PMAC, from its formation in 2013 until December 2020.
Jones spoke at the ceremony, noting the significant changes to the relationship between the NSW Police and the community over the past decade.
He noted that the relationship between the Police and the community members working with them had changed from formal to informal communication and from networks to meaningful partnerships.
Speaking about the relative success of NSW in minimising the harm of Covid-19, he spoke about the importance of the NSW population agreeing to act for the common good and having trust in government and its institutions to be acting for the common good.
He also spoke about the times in which the members of the Advisory Committee had challenged and questioned the Police, which was testimony to the mutual respect of the members of the Police and of community representatives.
