“When a policeman is the subject of disciplinary proceedings, the law requires them to be interviewed in their native language or by an authority holder of the bilingualism certificate,” said Emmanuel Jacubowitz, the man’s lawyer.
The sacked police officer is now demanding his job back and compensation for over five years of lost earnings. A spokesman for the Belgian police said: “Our legal department is currently studying the judgment. It is possible that we will have no choice but to employ the convicted officer again.”
