POLICE are appealing to a mystery caller as they hunt the killer of exotic dancer Johanna ”Jazzy O” Martin, whose battered body was found in a Port Melbourne street last month.
Homicide squad detectives say a caller to Crime Stoppers in the past week reported seeing the former escort in Evans Street, Port Melbourne, about 12.40pm the day her body was found – and they want that caller to call back.
Homicide investigators are trying to trace Ms Martin’s movements between the time she was last seen alive and the discovery of her body 95 minutes later.
Ms Martin, also known as ”Honie”, was found strangled, beaten, wrapped in a blanket and dumped in bushes in Lorimer Street about 2.15pm on October 11. She was 65. Investigators are also looking for a Port Melbourne man they believe had regular contact with Ms Martin.
Detective Inspector John Potter said Ms Martin usually wore a lot of ”distinctive” jewellery but was not wearing any when her body was found.
