FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda “I believe our diplomatic apparatus should use its legal means to deal with the issue,” Sattar Hedayatkhah, a member of Iran’s Majlis Cultural Committee, said on Thursday.
“The measure, per se, is both illegal and against international norms, while belying the Western claim of supporting freedom of expression,” he added.
The lawmaker said that banning Press TV is another evidence of the falsity of the West’s claims on the free flow of information, despite their claim that knowing [the truth] is everyone’s right.
Hedayatkhah pointed to the fact that Iran is entitled to respond in kind to such measures by the Western governments, but said that he doesn’t believe the Islamic Republic should take a similar step since what Germany did was “inhuman.”
On April 3, under pressure from the German government, Munich media regulatory office (BLM) made an illegal decision to remove Iran’s international English Channel, Press TV, from the SES Astra.
In an email sent to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) officials, Vice President of the SES Platforms Services Stephane Goebel noted that the BLM has asked that Press TV be immediately taken off the platform, claiming that the channel does not have a license for broadcast in Europe.
The move is clearly part of a plot orchestrated by the West to silence the voice of the alternative news network, and has prompted Press TV to file a lawsuit against the decision.
According to the lawsuit, BLM does not have the authority to pass a verdict for the removal of Press TV from the platform as such an authority is vested in the commission for licensing and supervision (ZAK) in Germany.
Press TV has given an ultimatum for the verdict to be repealed by 15:00 local time April 5, 2012.
