TCP : Dozens of protesters gathered in Abdel Moneim Riyad Square near the sealed-off Tahrir Square in Cairo Saturday night to voice anger at the dismissal of murder charges against former President Hosni Mubarak earlier in the day.
Another group of protesters chanted against the ruling outside the Journalists Syndicate downtown, Youm7 reported, and a few activists are already posting pictures from the protest on Twitter. Many lawyers expected Mubarak’s acquittal due to what they said was a lack of evidence.

“The police respect the feelings of the families of the martyrs of the January 25 Revolution, especially after the acquittal in the ‘trial of the century’ that prompted them to go to Abdel Moneim Riyad Square Downtown to denounce the ruling,” Ali al-Demerdash, the Cairo police chief, told Youm7.
“The police will not prevent anyone from expressing his opinion on the condition that this expression is peaceful without deliberate sabotage and within the framework of law,” Demerdash said.
The ruling absolved Mubarak, 86, and his codefendants from the killing of protesters during the January 25 Revolution in 2011, although he remains in prison pending trial in another graft case.
The April 6 Youth Movement on social media has called on people to take to the streets to protest the ruling.
For its part, the Muslim Brotherhood called on revolutionaries to unite, set their differences aside and demonstrate together.
Demerdash asserted in his remarks to Youm7 the police will deal firmly with anyone who attempts to block a public road or damage public property.
Earlier, Mahmoud Hassan, a 26-year-old accountant, was arrested following the issuance of the ruling outside Faisal Metro Station in Cairo, Bawaba News reported. He was holding a sign reading “down with Mubarak,” and wearing only his underwear, Mohamed Farouk, head of Giza police investigations, told Bawaba News.
