KHODORKOVSKY LAUNCHES MOVEMENT TO TOPPLE PUTIN

Khodorkovsky in a ‘duping delight’ moment

MOSCOW, Sept 20, 2014: Mikhail Khodorkovsky, a Kremlin opponent who spent a decade in prison, today launched a movement to bring together pro-European Russians to challenge strongman Vladimir Putin’s grip on power. Once Russia’s richest man, Khodorkovsky was released from prison late last year and is now based in Switzerland. He urged his compatriots to pull together to be able to influence the fate of the country.

“A minority will be influential if it is organized” he said as he announced the launch of his new movement called Open Russia.”

Some may think this outlandish but I see this as a very smart move on the part of Putin. He gets ahead of the Nudelmans and sets up his own tailor-made “opposition.”

The face of it is ex-con, Jewish oligarch Khodorkovsky who robbed Russia in the heyday of the shark fest of the 90s. He even names his new “movement” Open Russia to associate it with Soros’ Open Society.

His line is, “A minority will be influential if it is organized.” True enough. Ask AIPAC. And why the contradictory message of a “minority” when his claim is that “pro-European Russians” are many, just waiting to be liberated from Putin’s tyranny? Again, smart move, Putin!

Putin pardoned him and Khodorkovsky promised to stay out of politics. I am inclined to think he promised Putin more than that, desperate to get out of the place where his cutthroat fellow inmates were fixing to call him Natasha.

Now he boldly gets back into politics and in such a provocative way? A hero burning with patriotic zeal? I don’t think so.

I imagine that following this announcement there was initial confusion in Washington. Phones must have been ringing: “George, is he doing it on your dime?” “No, Victoria, I am as stunned as you are.” Now there must be some gnashing of teeth. Checked by Vova again!
