S. Korea, Iran to enhance literary exchanges

South Korea’s state-run literary agency said that it will sign an agreement with its Iranian counterpart next month to increase literary exchanges between the two countries.

The Literature Translation Institute of Korea will sign a memorandum of understanding with Hozeh Honari on October 01. Howzeh Honari, an art subdivision of Islamic Development Organization of Iran, is an institute devoted to promote the arts.

The signing, a follow-up to the “South Korea-Iran literary night” event held in Tehran timed to coincide with President Park Geun-hye’s visit to Iran in May, aims to enhance mutual understanding through cultural exchanges.

With the agreement, the countries now look forward to more vigorous interchanges by translating and publishing quality literary works produced in each other’s country and co-hosting various literary events.

The Iranian institution is comprehensively in charge of various artistic segments, including fine arts, music, film and publishing. It runs its own publishing house, which translates diverse works of literature into foreign languages.
