Scammers posing as insurance officers have targeted residents of a storm-hit home in Rockingham, south of Perth.
Fairfax Radio on Thursday said the scammers had doorknocked the property, requesting money for repairs following three severe storms that lashed the city and southern regions over the past week.
The consumer protection division of Western Australia’s Department of Commerce urged anyone else who had experienced such an approach to contact them with details.
A spokesman for the division said the isolated report was concerning and warned property owners to be wary of any doorknockers claiming to be from an insurance company who asked to be paid cash on the spot for home repairs.
