Pseudo-intellectual Sean Penn believes that the Tea Party members of Congress should all be committed “by executive order.”

“I think for let’s, let’s go to the Tea Party influence on Congress on this thing. I think they have, there’s a mental health problem in Congress. This would be solved by committing them by executive order,” said the washed-up actor in an interview with Piers Morgan of CNN, during which he shared many of his piercing assessments.

Penn very kindly pointed out that “these are our American brothers and sisters – this is a cry for help.” He’s a true humanitarian, isn’t he? And Ted Cruz? “He’s my American brother. I think we should take care of him,” Penn said earnestly.

Apparently, people’s political views are directly related to their education or lack thereof, according to Penn (who only has a high school diploma, according to multiple biographical sources. 1 , 2 and 3) He condescendingly identifies this lack of education as “this huge problem that we’re dealing with in the country.”

Right….let’s forcibly commit anyone whose politics disagree with ours to a mental institution – that will further the course of freedom, won’t it? If they disagree with a liberal agenda, they’re clearly insane. I’m sure it won’t be long until this is added to the DSM-IV. While we’re at it, perhaps we should also commit those without enough education to satisfy the notably uneducated Mr. Penn.

I’m just curious as to how an actor/director with only a high school education under his belt was deemed worthy of airtime on a national news station, espousing his views of Congress, liberty, and the American way. Too many celebrities are used as tools for propaganda, irresponsibly provided with the illusion of expertise by the mainstream media, given a national platform, and alarmingly, through these venues, they influence the way everyday people vote, the way they think, and their understanding of current events.
