Watching an hour of TV after the age of 25 can shorten the viewer’s life by just under 22 minutes, according to researchers in Australia.

The AFP news agency said scientists at the School of Population Health at the University of Queensland studied 11,000 Australian adults who were aged at least 25 in the year 2000.

The academics checked their data against an estimate from 2008 that Australians aged 25 or above watched TV for 9.8 billion hours. This was associated with the loss of 286,000 years of life, the AFP said.

An extrapolation of these figures found that a single hour of TV was responsible for the loss of just under 22 minutes of life, the news agency reported.

Smoking two cigarettes has approximately the same effect.

We can only hope spamming shortens one’s life also

  2. Wow, yet another idiotic study that some poor saps ended up paying for.

I really don’t know where to start with this stupidity.

So it is the inactivity that is “the problem”…well shit, then pretty much 80% of what people do would probably qualify for this since most things people do does not require much energy/activity to do.

If one hour takes 22 minutes off your life then I guess people who have been watching multi-hours every day are going to die years earlier. Factor in people who have sedentary office type jobs and then people who spend time doing things like reading and gaming and shit, everyone is I guess going to die by the time they are 50. I am 33 and have an office job and spend most of my free time watching movies, gaming or reading. I guess I’ll be dying in about 10-15 years. I can only hope so I can be done with this stupid ass world.

It pisses me off that so much money gets wasted on stupid shit like this.

  3. Agree

  4. Yeah, those Aussie’s never quit with trumping up shit ! If that were the case, all the idiots here watching Jerry Springer every day would be dead !

I wonder if masturbating shortens your life ? Nelson Rockefeller dropped dead on a whore !

No masturbating extends your life…Which is why I always masturbate while watching TV, so they they cancel each other out 😉

  5. People better start giving some credence to this research for it is not a lie.

Those who lie are on TV lying about reality. Keeping the sheep under control.

But more and more sheep have woken up lately and soon the RON PAUL peacefull revolution is going to show it.

You can silence a messenger but the message never dies once the thought is created in the minds of just a few 10% +

Mind control can work both ways. I call it condition my mind to goodness, time we start ignoring the peepsquicks of this NWO criminal mafia. ignoring is the start, it is followed by arresting one by one the worshipers of wars.

  6. I was wondering: look how people are insulted to see how they are ignoring Ron Paul? what if we ignored them totally? they do not exist in our minds no more.

what dept? they live in a lala land dept fantasy?
