(NaturalNews) On the latest episode of Mental Health Exposed, I speak with a world leader on stress reduction and personal biofeedback. Three of four American workers describe their employment as stressful. In fact, occupational stress has been called a “global epidemic” by the United Nations International Labor Organization.

Workplace stress costs U.S. employers an estimated $200 billion per year in absenteeism, lower productivity, staff turnover, medical insurance or worker’s compensation claims and other expenses. Stress management is the greatest challenge facing business in the 21st century.

Of course, stress is a factor in every one’s life, particularly during major events such as marriage, divorce or buying a home, life transitions, etc. However, I believe that list of major stress events is no longer the most important factor in stress. Major life transitions are few and far between for most people. What’s killing us is the multitude of little annoyances in life and how we handle them.

For example:

• That daily and never-ending to-do list
• The power hungry supervisor who won’t back off
• The fight you just had with your spouse – or the chronic lack of connection in your relationship
• Your disobedient child or your teenager that you allow to push your buttons
• The neighbor’s barking dog
• The obligatory social events
• The in-law that snoops too much

The little things that bug – the stuff you can’t let go of that eats away at you – cause chronic stress in your life every single day. Before long, this stressful way of being just becomes part of you and you ultimately need to retrain yourself away from it.

In other words, it is NOT normal to be stressed out all the time, but these days we all act as if it were!

In fact, when we encounter people who aren’t stressed out we think something is wrong with them. Maybe they just don’t have much of a life! Seriously. Stress has invaded our lifestyles. We have allowed that and we need to rethink how we are living. Our long-term health depends on it – and I think we all know that.

This is why I contacted the world leader in personal biofeedback technology, Hearth Math, LLC. They have really changed the game when it comes to making high tech biofeedback and stress reduction technology available to the public – and I got to speak with the President and CEO of Hearth Math on the latest episode of Mental Health Exposed.
