Teenager pleads guilty to cameraman attack

A teenage boy has pleaded guilty to assaulting a cameraman outside a Sydney court where the man accused of killing Thomas Kelly was appearing.

The 17-year-old boy, who can’t be named for legal reasons, appeared in Parramatta Children’s Court on Friday charged with assaulting Nine Network cameraman Mario Conti outside Burwood Local Court on Thursday.

He pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm to Mr Conti, whose head slammed into the footpath after the assault outside court.

The youth, from Seven Hills, was at Burwood Local Court for the appearance of Kieran Loveridge, 18, who has been charged with murdering Mr Kelly, also 18, and assaulting three other people at Kings Cross on July 7.

Mr Conti was treated at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and released on Thursday evening, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Magistrate Shane McAnulty adjourned the assault matter for sentencing at Parramatta Childrens Court on July 27.
