If Ron Paul had gotten just 200 more votes in the Iowa straw poll, the 2012 Republican presidential race would have been very different. There would have been no Michele Bachmann boomlet . . . and crash. And Rick Perry would have had to deal with a third “first-tier” candidate who just loves to needle him at any time on a wide range of issues.

This weekend, the libertarian congressman from Lake Jackson swamped Perry (and every other Republican candidate) in a straw poll at the California state GOP confab. Perry has gotten a barrelful of ink about his strength at the California grassroots level, but Paul, with an investment of about $25,000, whupped his home-state governor in the Showdown at LA Corral.

The Pundit Elite will write off Paul’s latest win, postulating, as they always do, that Paul has deep but not broad support. But it would be a mistake to write off Paul. Whether he wins the nomination or not, he has a passionate following and can get his supporters to the polls, straw or otherwise. Perry — and Mitt Romney — haven’t yet proven that they can do that.

  1. ———————————————R. Paul 2012—————————

    Bravo2…………….out

  2. corrupt to the core
    totally discredited
    Controlled Media

  3. If Ron doesn’t get the Republican nomination he should run Independent. He’s 76 and they’re taking his district away from him anyhow, so he really has nothing to lose.

  4. i beleave in freedom of speech even the freedom to lie whitch is all the MSM dose you can count on them for that ….i mean its where you go to find out whats not true at all ….ron paul is landsliding the oppossition …..the moneychanger scumfucks are going to have to rig the election and when that happens to people will have had enouugh ….

  5. What unenlightened soul wrote this article? Ron Paul DID win that straw poll because Michelle Bachmann got caught buying 4,000 of her own votes. She cheated. Ron Paul was the winner.

  6. People hunger for change. Not just a word. Something or someone that isn’t picked ahead of time and groomed for the job to follow orders. Someone with original ideas. Someone that actually has core values and won’t sell out the people at the last moment. Someone that does not think they are entitled to a vacation every month. Someone that does not think they are entitled to the job. Someone that will actually work. Someone that believes in limited Government and limited Government authority. Someone that believes in business and the people instead of trying to be their mother or father.

Ron or Rand Paul fits the bill. It must burn Romney and Perry up because they were groomed to cave and give in and give up.

  7. I have no dog in this fight, but even from here I can see that he is a great man. His videos are stellar viewing, imo.

  8. I would bet R Paul did get more votes than MB, even after she bought votes!

  9. I can’t stand politicians but damn I love Ron Paul. he has a good chance of winning because the MSm is trying to discredit him which gives him more and more and more credit, im telling you only the blinded yup yups of upper middle class don’t want him to win and Hannity and Limburgh and Beck, the Trinity of the ‘nice’ little war mongers,. Its hilarious how the jack asses call these sell out treasonist scums shows and bitch about tax and then want war after war after war, I wanna scream HEY DUMMY ALL YOUR EFFING MONEY GOES TO THE PENTAGON
