The simplest ideas are often the best and this Chinese road sweeper is no exception.

Looking like something that’s been bodged together in a shed by animated inventors Wallace and Gromit, the wacky contraption uses 16 straw broomsticks connected to a rotating iron disc which spins round as it is pulled along behind a van.

Although it might appear to be a one-off, it’s a tried and trusted design that has been in use across
China for decades.

Basic they might be, but you can’t
argue with their effectiveness and with only the straw sweeps that ever
need replacing they’re cheap to run too.

Just watch out for cyclists!

My cousin Harry is the head of RD at applied sweepers in Falkirk. This would give him a laugh.they’ve just designed a sweeper that runs off of twin lithium ion batteries to cut down on pollution and noise for city-centres.Won awards and everything

How many witches did they take those brooms from? Give them back they need to fly!

Don’t let David see it, or else he’ll be ordering some for the UK.

It does not remove the dirt and rubbish, it simply moves it around. “Brilliant”

So where does all the filth go?

I’ve seen some stupid things in my time but that takes the biscuit.

where does the dust go to , i wouldn’t like to be a pedestrian when the sweeper is working so close .

This is not cleaning the streets – merely pushing the dirt around a bit. No help at all.

If I were a Wicked Witch, I’d ditch my broomstick for a ride on this…heh heh heh!!

So where does all the filth go?
