Pacnet appoints new CEO

Communications provider Pacnet has announced that it has appointed Carl Grivner as CEO, effective 23 July 2012, in a statement Monday. This comes nearly two months after the sudden departure from the company of predecessor William Barney.

Grivner was mostly recently CEO of XO Communications, a telecommunications company in the United States. Prior to XO Communications, he was Chief Operating Officer of Global Crossing, CEO of Worldport Communications, CEO of Cable Wireless (Western Hemisphere) where he headed North American operations, and CEO of Advanced Fibre Communications, the statement noted.

“Carl has a unique combination of strategic focus and operational skills. He has a proven track record in delivering on consistent growth while maintaining operational efficiencies,” said James Ousley, chairman of Pacnet’s board of directors.

He added that the board was fully confident that Grivner, who will be based in Singapore, would “successfully execute on Pacnet’s next phase of growth” in its integrated communications, data center and CDN offerings in Asia-Pacific.

In the statement, Grivner said: “I look forward to lead the Pacnet team that will drive the company’s next stage of growth.”

Brett Lay, who stepped in as currently interim CEO, will continue his role as the company’s chief financial officer, it added.
