Trial to strip Bilal Erdogan of Egyptian nationality adjourned to Feb. 14

TCP : An Egyptian court adjourned Sunday a lawsuit on withdrawing the Egyptian nationality from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s son to Feb. 14, Youm7 reported.

Erdogan_AD_Turkey_corruptionControversial Lawyer Samir Sabriy filed the case demanding withdrawing the Egyptian citizenship from Erdoğan’s son Bilal Erdogan.

According to Sabry’s complaint, former Islamist President Mohamed Morsi granted the Egyptian nationality to foreigners from Turkey, including Bilal, and Palestinian Hamas Movement, who both supported the Muslim Brotherhood rule in Egypt.

Sabry said that Bilal holds an Egyptian passport with which he “escaped to Georgia after being involved in corruption crimes.”

During Morsi’s one-year rule, bilateral relations of Cairo and Ankara blossomed, but soured following his ouster on July 3, 2013 as Erdoğan described the overthrow a “military coup.” Since then, both countries downgraded diplomacy representation.
