Two Qld men dead in separate crashes

Two men have died in separate traffic accidents north of Brisbane.

A 41-year-old NSW man was fatally injured when his trail bike crashed into a tree in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The man was riding off-road at Belli Park when the incident happened just after 4pm (AEST) on Thursday, police say.

He was airlifted to hospital but died from his injuries.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man was critically injured and later died after the motorcycle he was riding hit a fence at Caboolture.

Police believed the motorcycle struck a gutter, causing the man to lose control and leave the road.

The incident happened about 1.40pm (AEST).

The man was taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital but could not be saved.

Earlier, a central Queensland pedestrian died after an apparent hit and run.

A passing motorist found the injured man on Bowen Road at Roma just before midnight on Wednesday.

The man was taken to the Roma hospital but he died.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and police are looking for the driver, who failed to stop.
