The head of the freedoms committee of the syndicate will also face charges of slandering the Interior Ministry and insulting the police.

The assistant to the interior minister for legal affairs filed a report against Balshy to the public prosecution, which ordered the communications department of the investigations apparatus to draft a report on the alleged tweets and Facebook posts.

The charges against Balshy includes in evidence a C.D. of videos of him and screenshots of the online posts, according to Youm7.

Head of the Arabic Network for Human Rights Organization Gamal Eid, who himself is banned from traveling and his assets have been ordered frozen, wrote on Twitter that Balshy’s anticipated arrest is “detrimental to Egypt.”

Meanwhile, prominent human rights lawyer Negad el-Borai tweeted “They can no longer take words… Khaled el-Balshy is the voice of the people and they only want to hear themselves.”
