‘US experiencing state of degeneration’

The experts cited some figures, shedding light on their assertion.

The United States has the largest prison population and the highest rate of crimes in the world.

The International Center for Prison Studies has said that more people are behind bars in the US than in any other country.

The US incarceration rate of 715 per 100,000 people is the world’s highest.

With less than five percent of the world’s population, the US has almost a quarter of the world’s prisoners, according to a report, published by The New York Times in 2008.

School shootings are far more frequent in the country than in other countries and access to guns is a significant factor in the shooting incidents.

Regarding the US shattering economy, a quarter of full-time working-age American adults are not earning enough money to meet their families’ economic needs.

Figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show more than one-third of adults in the US are obese.

Obesity has been characterizing a large part of the population for decades, and healthcare costs, associated with it, are estimated at USD 147 billion a year.

Regarding cybercrime, the United States remains the top-spamming country and the source of about one-fifth of the world’s spam.

The US currently accounts for 47 percent of global credit and debit card fraud even though it is a source of only 27 percent of the total volume of world’s purchases and cash, according to Global Card Fraud, from a recent issue of The Nilson Report.

There have also been more than 53 million abortions carried out in the United States since 1973. The figure means that more than 3,000 American babies are killed by abortion every single day that is approximately equal to the number of the Americans, who lost their lives in 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center towers.

Another issue is a growing consensus among the “intellectual elite” that most elderly people are not going to have a high enough “quality of life” to justify the expense of costly life saving procedures.

The philosophy is now being promoted very heavily through mainstream news outlets under the pretext that “pulling the plug” on grandma and grandpa is compassionate because it will end their suffering, it is good for the environment and it is even good for the economy.”

Depression among women in the US is also the highest as they use anti-depressants more than the females in any other nations.

Good Magazine reported a number of statistics in 2007 about the online pornography industry, saying 89 percent of porn is created in the US and USD 2.84 billion in revenue was generated from US porn sites in 2006. Some 260 new porn sites go online daily.

Also, the United States has the highest divorce rate in the world. In a poll, conducted by Gfk Roper, 36 percent of the respondents said that they had obtained a divorce over physical or verbal abuse and financial issues.

Finally, the US has the biggest amount of debt in the world as its national debt doubled in 2005 and reached USD 8 trillion dollars. The debt is about to cross the USD-16-trillion mark now.
