The Western military alliance announced on Thursday that tthe soldier died of non-combat related injuries in the country’s troubled south.
Earlier on Thursday, another US-led soldier serving with the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed in insurgency-hit southern Afghanistan in a roadside bomb blast.
“An ISAF service member died following an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in southern Afghanistan today,” ISAF said in a statement.
The ISAF declined to give more details on the incidents and the nationality of the soldiers.
According to official figures released by the website icasualties.org , the latest death brings to 2940 the number of foreign soldiers killed in Afghanistan since the US-led invasion of the Asian country in 2001.
Insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan despite the presence of tens of thousands of US-led troops.
