FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda A top Syrian official has questioned Washington’s sincerity about forming a military coalition against the Takfiri ISIL group, saying the West lacks the “true will” to confront terrorism.
“The US and Western moves to form an alliance outside the framework of the UN Security Council to fight the ISIL does not reflect a true will to confront terrorism,” Syria’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham said during a parliament session on Sunday.
He added that the countries joining the US-led alliance against ISIL militants are the ones that armed, financed, trained and sent militants into Syria.
“Those who really want to combat terrorism must cooperate with Syria in accordance with long-term plans, and not by supporting terrorist organizations under false titles,” Laham pointed out.
Earlier, Syria’s ambassador to the UN slammed the supporters of the ISIL Takfiri group, saying Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar are the main supporters of terrorism in the region.
Bashar al-Ja’afari also said during a UN Security Council meeting on Friday that any action against the terrorists must comply with the principles of international law.
The Syrian official noted that the government in Damascus has been actively involved in the battle against terrorism for the past three years, adding that the Syrian government is coordinating with Iraqi authorities in the battle against ISIL.
Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since 2011, with ISIL Takfiri terrorists currently controlling parts of it mostly in the east.
More than 191,000 people have been killed in over three years of fighting in the war-ravaged country, says the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
