Who’s Lying? WH & VEB Bank Tell Different Tales About Kushner Meeting

According to the Russian-state owned bank known as VEB, the meeting between Jared Kushner and their CEO during the transition was about business strategies involving Kushner Companies and financial loans.

In a statement about the meeting, VEB said: “During 2016, when preparing the new Vnesheconombank’s Strategy, the Bank’s CEOs repeatedly met with representatives of the leading global financial institutions in Europe, Asia and America. In the course of negotiations the parties discussed the business practices applied by foreign development banks, as well as most promising business lines and sectors. The roadshow meetings devoted to Vnesheconombank’s Strategy 2021 were held with representatives of major US banks and business circles, including the CEO of Kushner Companies Mr. Jared Kushner.”

And when questioned at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum by the media about the debacle, VEB CEO Sergey Gorkov told reporters: “We have absolutely nothing to add. We have a lot of meetings.”

The White House offered a completely different explanation for the meeting. They said “Kushner met with Gorkov as the Trump transition team’s ‘official primary point of contact with foreign governments’ and insists discussions were unrelated to personal business.

This so-called “relationship meeting” between a private citizen and the head of a US sanctioned Russian bank has also been the subject of inquiry as to whether or not it was an attempt to set up a channel of communication between the Trump people and Russia in order to discuss issues out of the reach of US intelligence monitoring.

The conflict with these 2 explanations is that VEB is known as Putin’s “second budget” and has financed covert strategies for Russia going all the way back to the Soviet Union and through until the occupation of the Ukraine.

VEB most recently paid for the legal defense of an employee who was arrested and convicted of collecting intelligence for the Kremlin via US persons; including Carter Page, a former adviser to the Trump campaign.

And Gorkov, the CEO of VEB, according to his official bio , graduated from Putin’s Federal Security Service (FSB), formerly known as the KGB; along with previously having served as the head of Russia’s Sberbank in the 1990s.

While working with Sberbank, Gorkov sponsored the 2013 Miss Universe pageant owned at-the-time by Donald Trump who met with Gorkov several times and even inquired about getting a meeting with Putin through Gorkov’s connections to the Russian government.

Hagar Hajar Chemali, former US Treasury spokeswoman on terrorism and financial intelligence, points out that “if sanctions against a world power and its entities are a big deal, so, too, are top advisers to the President-elect taking secret meetings with representatives of those entities. The move at best reflects poor judgment and at worst, could pose violations of the Logan Act, which prohibits unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments in disagreements with the United States.”
