In 2012 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported 2011 had the lowest birth rates on record.

Across the board, infiltrating all races in the US, less children are being born. Since 2007, 4.3 million Americans have had fewer babies; either due to the economy or social credo.

Globally, this problem is palatable. The United Nations found that from 2010 to 2015, the averages of children born to women dropped to 2.5 children.

Journalist Marisa Taylor wrote : “That was a significant decrease from an average of three children per woman from 1990 to 1995. The report said the average age of marriage for women increased over the last 20 years by one year, to 25. The average age for marriage for men was 29, also an increase of one year in the same time period.”

Susanne.Posel-Headline.News.Official- spermbot.german.infertility_occupycorporatismTo combat the rising infertility problem, a team of researchers from the Institute for Integrative Nanosciences at IFW Dresden in Germany have developed a method that may revolutionize infertility treatments.

They have created “spermbots” which are a spiral-shaped micromotor out of a piece of metal that wraps around the tail of a sperm in order to help make it a better swimmer.

The researchers call it an “on-board power supply” that assists the sperm in making contact with the egg. Once fertilization is complete, the motor falls off.

For 2 years, the researchers worked on making artificial flagella and cilia to mimic those biological counterparts, and even experimented in labs.

The nanotechnology has not been test on humans because they have yet to use the spermbot “to actually achieve successful fertilization”.

In the US, male infertility is becoming an issue – so much so that there are studies conducted on why this phenomenon is happening.

Three years ago, the European Union’s Developmental Effects of Environment on Reproduction (DEER) project reported that they had found a correlation between men who watch more than 20 hours of television per week and their lost half of their sperm count.

The authors of the study explained: “The objective of this study was to evaluate the relationships between semen quality and both physical activity and TV watching among young, healthy men. We hypothesized that increased physical activity was associated with higher sperm count, concentration and motility, and a lower proportion of morphologically abnormal sperm. Furthermore, we hypothesized that increased TV watching time was associated with decreased semen quality parameters.”

Research showed that only 3 hours per day of sedentary behavior (including watching television) would cause dramatic reductions in sperm count development.

In April of 2015, Harvard University School of Public Health (SPH) published a study that demonstrated how eating copious amounts of pesticide-laden fruit and vegetables may be causing the infertility problem.

This study found that participants who attended a fertility clinic, we used for the report because they ate produce known to be heavily sprayed with pesticides; such as strawberries, apples and spinach.

These participants had half as many sperm, and a 3rd fewer normal sperm, than the men who consumed less pesticide ridden fruits and vegetables.
