A 91-year-old woman is in hospital with serious injuries after being robbed and beaten by two men who broke into her home.


The woman is being treated in hospital after the bashing by two thieves who smashed through a front window to break into her Mount Waverley home about 9.45pm last night.

One of the men struck the elderly woman to the head and made a demand for cash before threatening her as they left the building.

The frightened woman called her son who contacted police shortly after the incident and the woman was taken to The Alfred hospital with serious injuries.

A search of the area by police, including the Dog Squad, failed to locate the men.

The first man was described as being around 25-years-old, 175cm tall, of southern European appearance with long black hair.

The second man was about 40-years-old, 165cm tall, of Caucasian appearance and bald.

Investigators from the Monash crime investigation unit have released FACE images of the men and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
