Man pistol-whipped his girlfriend: police

A man who allegedly pistol-whipped his girlfriend during a domestic dispute in western Sydney has been arrested by heavily-armed police.

A 31-year-old man was arrested by officers from the Tactical Operations Unit and Operation Spartan during a raid at a Silverwater residence on Saturday.

Police launched an investigation after a 35-year-old woman was found in a semi-conscious state at the residence on Friday.

Local detectives allege she was struck across the face with a firearm during a domestic violence dispute.

At around midday on Saturday, armed officers executed a search warrant at the Silverwater residence and seized a pistol, ammunition, cocaine, steroids, two mobile phones and documents.

The man was charged with numerous assault, drug and gun offences, refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.

The woman was receiving treatment for various injuries which are not considered life-threatening.
