A promising young rugby league player signed to the junior Sydney Roosters side has been charged over an alleged domestic violence incident.
Police allege that shortly after 8.30pm (AEST) on Friday officers were called to Moore Park where they found a 19-year-old woman with minor head injuries.
She was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment.
Police then arrested a 19-year-old man, described as a professional athlete, in Surry Hills and charged him with common assault.
Macquarie Radio has since reported the accused man is Sydney Roosters under-20 five-eighth Corey McGrady.
He has been stood down indefinitely by the club, 2GB reported.
He was bailed to appear at Central Local Court on May 2.
