(Scroll down for video) Police have warned about a new scam lurking on the internet.
Who would have thought that getting naked and naughty with an unknown woman online could have negative consequences?
It turns out that, besides the possibility of walk-ins by your wife or girlfriend, you now have to worry about being blackmailed.
Singapore police are reporting what appears to be a ring of online scammers who use attractive women to friend unsuspecting men on social media sites, seducing them into webcam cybersex and then threatening to post pictures or videos of them online if they do not pay up.
“They would start a conversation with the suspects and begin to undress before convincing their male victims to appear nude or perform sexual acts in front of web cameras,” the Singapore Police Force wrote in a post on its website.
Police said more than 50 cases were reported in 2012, compared to 11 the previous year.
