3 US-led soldiers killed in Afghanistan

“Three International Security Assistance Force service members died following an improvised explosive device attack in eastern Afghanistan today,” ISAF said in a Monday statement, AFP reported.

The alliance force did not reveal the exact location of the attack or the nationalities of the soldiers.

At least 149 foreign soldiers, most of them Americans, have lost their lives so far this year in Afghanistan, according to a tally kept by the icasualties.org website.

The increasing number of military casualties in Afghanistan has caused widespread anger in the US and other NATO member states, undermining public support for the Afghan war.

The US-led invasion of Afghanistan took place in 2001. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan despite the presence of hundreds of thousands of US-led troops there.
