THE DEBUT: Google will start selling a small tablet computer bearing its brand. It’s an attempt to catch up to Apple and Amazon in the growing market for tablet computers.
DETAILS: Called the Nexus 7, it will start shipping next month. It will sell for $199 — the same as Amazon.com Inc.‘s Kindle Fire, but much cheaper than Apple Inc.‘s iPad.
MAKER: Although the tablet carries the Google brand, the machine will be made by AsusTek Computer Inc.
