A motorcyclist has died after trying to get past two semi-trailers by riding between them.
Investigators believe two semi-trailer trucks were travelling west on Geelong Road, Brooklyn about 7pm (AEDT) on Wednesday night when the motorcycle attempted to get past them by riding in between them.
It’s believed the motorcyclist, aged in his 20s, lost control of his machine and collided with one of the trucks, near McDonalds Road.
Both truck drivers failed to stop at the scene, but have since come forward to police.
Major Collision Investigation detectives are appealing for witnesses.
Victoria’s road toll stands at 77, nine more than for the same period last year.
