“Admin curbed price hikes despite oil price slump”: Spokesman

TEHRAN, March 09 (Shana) — The government spokesman said the Rouhani administration has been able to control inflation in Iran despite falling oil prices.

Addressing the last session Assembly of Experts in the current year, Mohammad Bagher Nobakht said other countries like Saudi Arabia had to reduce the subsidies they offered to their nations because of the price slump in global oil market, but in Iran, the administration tried to keep paying cash handouts and curb inflation.

He said a considerable part of the inflation in Iran comes from domestic malfunctions.

“Economic development and growth accompanied by justice were eyed by the administration in its plans which was materialized,” the official said.
