FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda In a meeting in Kabul on Thursday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi extended Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s invitation to his Afghan counterpart to attend the NAM summit due this summer in the Iranian capital.
The 16th NAM summit will be held from August 26 to 31.
Iran will receive the rotating presidency of the movement from Egypt for three years during the upcoming summit.
NAM comprises some 120 member states and 17 observer countries and represents nearly two-thirds of the UN members.
Salehi pointed to the amicable relations between Iran and Afghanistan and said the two countries have a positive prospect for a further expansion of ties.
He voiced Iran’s readiness to implement development projects in battle-weary Afghanistan.
The Iranian foreign minister also expressed Iran’s concern over the US bases in the Afghan territories, saying, “Regarding the long record of the US intervention in the internal affairs of countries, we do not regard as honest their objectives, and this is a matter of concern.”
The Afghan president, for his part, said a senior Afghan delegation would take part in the NAM summit.
Karzai added that the recent strategic pact between Afghanistan and the US pursues no military objectives.
Shortly after arriving in the war-wracked Afghanistan in an unannounced trip late on the night of May 1, US President Barack Obama met his Afghan counterpart Karzai. The two presidents signed a strategic deal that authorizes the presence of US troops for a period of 10 years after 2014 – the original date agreed upon for the departure of all foreign combat troops from Afghanistan.
Iran and several other regional countries have expressed concern about the strategic pact.
