Afghanistan blast kills 3 NATO soldiers

The US embassy has confirmed that three foreign forces along with their Afghan translator have been killed in the Wednesday attack.

Fourteen people, 13 of them civilians and one policeman, were killed in the bomb blast, which targeted a NATO-Afghan convoy passing through the town.

Meanwhile, another explosion in Afghanistan’s Eastern Logar Province killed at least 8 civilians, and injured four others, bringing the total death toll of Afghan civilians to 21 on Wednesday.

The security situation remains fragile in the war-torn country, despite the presence of thousands of foreign forces there.

The increasing number of troop casualties in Afghanistan has caused widespread anger in the United States and other NATO member states, undermining public support for the US-led war which began in 2001. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan, despite the presence of about 130,000 US-led troops.
