An Australian soldier on patrol in Afghanistan has suffered minor injuries in a roadside bomb blast but is expected back at work soon.
A Bushmaster armoured vehicle hit the improvised explosive device during a routine patrol in the Charmestan Valley of Oruzgan province on Tuesday, acting chief of joint operations Rear Admiral Steve Gilmore said.
The soldier’s wounds were superficial and he was given first aid on site then taken by helicopter to a medical facility at Tarin Kot.
Rear Adml Gilmore said the soldier was expected to return to work soon.
