‘Members of the Commons Treasury Select Committee said that Mr Diamond had not been fully honest with them when he gave evidence last week. Andrew Tyrie, the chairman, suggested Mr Diamond had taken a “cavalier attitude” to Parliament and shown “a complete lack of candour”.
The MPs’ allegations against Mr Diamond came as they took evidence from Marcus Agius, the Barclays chairman, which revealed that the Financial Services Authority expressed “concerns” about Barclays’ aggressive attempts to interpret financial rules to its own advantage. Mr Agius submitted to the MPs a letter from the FSA to Barclays sent in April this year.’
