Future riots could be quelled by projectiles containing chemical irritants fired by police using new weapons that are now in the final stages of development.

The Discriminating Irritant Projectile (Dip) has been under development by the Home Office’s centre for applied science and technology (Cast) as a potential replacement for plastic bullets.

Documents obtained by the Guardian reveal that last summer’s riots in England provided a major impetus to Home Office research into new-generation riot control technology, ranging from the Dip to even more curious weaponry described by Cast technicians as “skunk oil”.

These “new” weapons are just a waste of money and time to talk about. The kinds of weapons they have stored up that are completely deadly is ridiculous. They only bring out weapons that are well out of date, basically defunct compared to the most cutting edge.
it’s ok, most of my fellow brits will LOVE this… . they love men/women in black uniforms hurting them. i think it’s called, sadism.
San Diego PD and others here in UNafornia are now announcing the purchase of the sound cannons. San Diego (interviewed on local news today) was saying how they were quite pleased? with it’s affect on people..and that they had had it for a decade. I’ve carried ear plugs in my pocket for many years when attending rallies, anticipating the use of such devices. Others may consider my idear..and if you think it just might be wise… Do it. I also usually have a pair of those cheap yellow shooting glasses in my pocket for eye protection. Both pretty inexpenive and good idears..I think.
