A post-mortem report shortly after her death reserved its ruling until after
the forensic tests had been completed but said a drugs overdose was the
likely cause. A later inquest in Britain heard no traces of drugs or alcohol
were found.
Despite the forensic failure, the investigating officer Rahul Parab said a new
inquiry was now under way.
“The case was never closed and we were investigating the death under
section 174 (unnatural death). The sister of the the deceased approached us
and alleged that her sister was murdered. Taking cognisance of the
allegations, we have now registered a murder case against unknown persons
and have began investigations into the matter.”
