Burnt body find triggers police hunt

Homicide squad detectives are searching for a 43-year-old man from Melbourne’s western suburbs following the discovery of a severely burnt body last night in Brooklyn.

Police are also seeking a red ute last seen in the early hours of this morning when police terminated a pursuit.

The man, Mark Budimir, is believed to have information that may assist the investigation.

Police said that about 4pm yesterday a man, believed to be a business associate of Mr Budimir, was reported missing. The missing man is a 37-year-old single male who owns a small business in Melbourne’s west.

Emergency services were called to wooden pallets on fire in Bunting Road, Brooklyn, about 9.30pm yesterday. Firefighters found the body as they searched through the debris.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established and the body has not been formally identified by forensic experts, police said.
