Hundreds of volunteers who helped out with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting have attended a reception in Kings park.

Six hundred and fifty people volunteered during CHOGM week at a number of areas including the Perth airport, the convention centre, Perth hotels, and even in the Royal household.

The Premier Colin Barnett thanked those involved and says they showed Perth as a vibrant city.

“Most of the visitors would never have been to Australia, let alone Perth,” Mr Barnett said.

“They probably thought this was some dusty old mining camp on the edge of the continent; and they have seen a modern and sophisticated city.

“People have walked away seeing what we all know, that this is a great place to live, that we have a great lifestyle and we actually have an enormous ability to just sort of pitch in and get a job done.

“You did it superbly so I simply say from the West Australian Government, from myself personally and from Lynn, thanks very much; well done.”
