Christian Bale visits victims of Colorado shooting

Another picture of the Welsh actor, who was wearing a black T-shirt, was
posted on Twitter by elated medical staff saying: “What a surprise! 19
Swedish staff members met actor Christian Bale today @ TMCA! More details
soon.”

Bale also visited a makeshift memorial to the victims near the cinema. He
walked past the 12 crosses erected for each of the slain victims, with many
people there not realising who he was.

Bill Voloch, interim president of the hospital, said: “The patients were
really happy to meet Bale. They are obviously big fans of his movies. They
wanted to see Batman.

“It was good for the patients. We hope it was therapeutic for them, and
all the staff really appreciated him coming.”

Mr Voloch said Bale had wanted to keep the visit private and media were not
notified, but word quickly spread.

The actor released a statement last week offering his condolences to those
affected by the shooting.

“Words cannot express the horror that I feel,” he said. “I
cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their
loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”

James Holmes, 24, is accused of shooting 12 people dead and wounding 58 more
at the cinema outside Denver during the first midnight screening of latest
Batman film The Dark Knight Rises.
