On Friday, the so-called Visegrád Four – Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland –met at an emergency summit in Prague to discuss the influx of refugees to the EU. As a result the four released a statement rejecting plans for quotas for refugees seeking asylum in the EU.

Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland also voiced support for Hungary, a which is one of the eastern EU ‘border states’ to receive immigrants under the Dublin Regulation drafted in the 1990s. According to government figures provided in June, more than 60,000 immigrants crossed into Hungary illegally in 2015.
