A staggering 2,100 people today joined together in colourful clothing to form the world’s largest ever human Olympic rings logo.

Schoolchildren and staff dressed in t-shirts, jumpers and even banana suits to make the yellow, black, red, green and blue circles.

The spectacular display was photographed from a helicopter as it hovered above Bay House School, in Gosport, Hampshire.

Their efforts smashed the Guinness World Record for the ‘largest human Olympic rings’, beating the previous record of 1,900.

The excited boys and girls even raised £2,000 for the African charity Friends of Mulanje Orphans by paying not to wear their school uniform.

‘This proves that if you work together you can achieve amazing things.’

Stanley Hood, 12, who was wearing black, said: ‘It feels great to have set a new record.

‘I was so impressed with what we all did today.

I hope they had permission from the Olympic Committee! With all the nonsense about trading standards asking shop keepers to take down posters of SUPPORT to our athletes due to them using the rings logo, not even selling anything, I hope trading standards don’t pick and choose who they threaten to take to court.
All we want to do is support our country, but we get FINED for the pleasure.

I took part in this world record event and am pleased that it happened because it meant that the whole school could come together to do something amazing, as well as raising over £2,000 for a great charity! To all those saying ‘what about missed lessons’, it happened near the end of the day, so we missed very little lesson time. What’s wrong with having an enjoyable fund raiser at school?

Hope this weather lasts out for the olympics would be nice to see a complete wash out

Yayyy… Wait what ah well yayy.

Er, nothing to do educational then? pointless, but still, it might win the Turner Prize…..

Zzzzzzzz

Congratulations to the staff and pupils what an wonderful idea to raise money for Charity and just proves that the kids today are not all rotten and out for themselves.
(we can leave that to the Olympic organisors – sorry I just couldn’t resist)

It would have been cool if this had ended up in Google Earth!

Looks like fun for the kids… Won’t they be disappointed when they see how boring the Olympics are?

My son took part in this challenge at Bayhouse and he is proud of what the school did. They’re school kids who highlight the excitement of the Olympics and raised money for charity so no negative comments please!!! P.S MH, UK…. they did it in the afternoon just before the end of the day!!!!
