“I am not afraid because I did not say or do anything wrong, I detected a state of many people who resort to sexual films and books before marriage; it is not my problem that we are a society that likes to bury its head in the sand,” the comedian told Al-Ahram Gate Saturday.

Nasr City Misdemeanor Court has already set Nov. 10 for Entissar’s first hearing.

Porn in a virgin until married society

Rejecting demands to ban pornographic websites in Egypt, Entissar said last week in Nafsana show on al-Kaher wal Nas channel that porn teaches sex to people who get married without any prior sexual experience.

In Egypt, Muslim and Christian men and women alike are expected to remain abstinent until they get married. The most populous Arab state is one of the most countries that restrict explicit content, but is also reportedly one of the most that consumes online porn.

The most recent ruling banning porn in Egypt was in May, as the Administrative Court ordered the Cabinet to block access to such websites.

Entissars views, staged or genuine?

The actress’s video on porn has been watched on Youtube over 1.5 million times in a matter of days. The show is presented by three women, including Entissar.

“It did not occur to the civil plaintiffs that the show lies in an acting framework, that what I said in the episode may not express my opinion, that each presenter represents a specific segment of women in the Egyptian society, and that what we say may very well be attributed to the editing team. I still, however, did not come forward with any justification, because I am not afraid,” Al-Ahram Gate quoted Entissar as saying.

In the controversial episode, Entissar said she likes the plots of some pornographic films, and that whoever wants to watch porn to “stay cool” until they get married should be allowed to.

The wave of condemnation also included her remark in another episode, where she called on women not to be “ashamed” of their breasts, to be proud of their femininity, and not to hide them with book, bags or walk with arms crossed or shoulders bent down.

Lawyers who sue celebrities, controversial channel

Controversial lawyer Samir Sabry, who previously filed a lawsuit against actor Khaled Abol Naga for criticizing President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, lawyer Mohamed al-Nemr, who jailed two belly dancers after suing them for “debauchery,” and lawyer Assayed al-Gamasy filed lawsuits against the actress.

Al-Kahera wal Nas channel previously aired controversial show With Islam, where its presenter Islam el-Beheiry laid out his views on the Islamic religion. After lawsuits accusing him of “twisting Islam,” the channel closed the show and he was sentenced to five years in prison.

A belly dancing competition program on al-Kaher wal Nasr was halted after criticism from religious scholars. Although the program managed to continue and a Ukrainian won the competition, there has been no other season to the show.
