David Cameron has spoken of his deep admiration for the Queen, highlighting her ‘great British common sense’.

The Prime Minister says of their regular meetings: ‘My weekly hour with the Queen is vital because I get to draw on all those qualities: Her knowledge; her commitment; her time-tested wisdom.

‘Above all she has an abundance of what I’d call “great British common sense” – the ability to cut through the fuss and see what really matters. That is invaluable to me, as I’m sure it was to the other 11 Prime Ministers she has worked with.’

Mr Cameron’s heartfelt tribute is to be published in the Diamond Jubilee Opus, a luxury book chronicling each of the six decades of the Queen’s reign. In it, the Prime Minister describes his audience with the Queen, who he meets for an hour each week, as a reassuring constant in the cut and thrust of political life.

‘Against all the noise and combat that is British politics, this is a quiet hour to take stock with someone who understands the broad sweep of events; who after 60 years at the heart of our national life knows politics may swing this way and that, but for whom certain values and ideals remain deeply important.’ Mr Cameron continues: ‘Over six decades we’ve passed through the jet age, space age and digital age; seen numerous armed conflicts and countless social movements – but constant throughout it all has been the service of our Queen.

‘She promised to give her heart and her devotion “to these old islands”, and that promise she has kept beyond question.’

He adds: ‘My audiences with the Queen
have revealed many more of her qualities. She has a vast, intricate
knowledge of foreign affairs. If there’s an event in a far-off country –
whether an election, a coup or a riot – I can guarantee that Her
Majesty will not just know about it, but have chapter and verse on it.’

The Diamond Jubilee Opus features 800 pages of rarely seen images and commentary on the Queen including her coronation, close relationship with the Commonwealth, fashion through the decades and life off duty.

The first edition leather-bound book will have a flawless diamond from Garrard, formerly the Queen’s jeweller, set into it and will be auctioned for The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust. A ‘Schools Edition’ will be available for every secondary school. Further details can be found on www.thisisopus.com. Other copies will sell for between £2,500 and £195.

WHAT A CRAWLER

“The institution of royalty in any form is an insult to the human race.” “There never was a throne that did not represent a crime.” – Mark Twain.
– Rusty, Warehouse 13, 31/5/2012 12:38…………………. You’re living in the past. Royalty nowadays does not mean absolute power. You’ve got Westminster to look at for that. Give me royalty any time over a President.

I do hope it includes the first bride of her first son and the MOTHER of the future King of England – but I will enjoy the bookn ever the less as 50 years ago we did rule the waves and a British passport was one to be proud of.

I can STILL remember Princess Diana!!! The very BEST of all of them…

Commonsense was sorely lacking at the time Princess Diana died.

The worst PM in this country’s history praising the parasitical Mrs Mountbatten, look no further to see why the UK is a mess.

Yep, she has the common sense to pretend she gives a hoot. The common sense to play the media. The common sense to never do anything in public that isn’t stage managed or to say anything unscripted. The common sense to know she is one lucky woman who has the adoration of faithfully forelock tugging royalists to stand her corner and stop her getting the boot. Shame none of the royals have the integrity to stop taking massively from those of us who are forced to pay for them all to swan around in luxury. She does good work? Don’t make me laugh. When did she ever roll her sleeves up and get stuck in to proper work?

maybe she should give cambo some lessons

If he thinks Her Majesty has got common sense, why isn’t he defending her and this country by getting us out of the biggest threat to Sovereignty, the EU? If they had their way we would have some unelected Commissioner on our bank notes. Cameron, the heir to Blair. Rule Britannia.
