‘Diplomats abduction Israeli terrorism’

“We have the right knowledge that these kidnapped Iranian diplomats are alive and incarcerated in Israeli prisons,” Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told Press TV.

“They are held for no reason. This is an unlawful terrorist act by the Zionist regime against Iran and is considered to be a major international crime,” he added.

On July 4, 1982, four Iranian diplomats — Ahmad Motevaselian, Seyyed Mohsen Mousavi, Taqi Rastegar Moqaddam and Kazem Akhavan — were kidnapped by a group of Israel-backed gunmen at an inspection post in northern Lebanon.

They were last heard of on June 2008, when the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement received a report indicating that the diplomats were still alive and in Israeli captivity.

On Wednesday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi called on the UN to take further efforts to help release the Iranian nationals from Israeli prisons.

Meanwhile, Lebanese Charge d’affaires in Tehran Ali al-Habhab denounced the abduction.

“We understand that this was a crime against humanity and against all international law and conventions committed by the West during the very complicated time of the Israeli invasion of Lebanon,” he said.
