Driver jailed over teen in boot crash

A man who crashed his car with five teenagers on board, including one in the boot, has been sentenced to three years in jail.

William Jeremy Fenn, 25, from Wodonga, in north-east Victoria, was behind the wheel when his car rolled at Howlong, in southern New South Wales, in January last year.

The court had previously heard Fenn had a blood alcohol reading of 0.175 when he crashed his car.

The court heard the passenger in the boot had injuries that were originally horrendous and life threatening.

Fenn was found guilty of aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

District Court judge David Frearson sentenced Fenn to 38 months in jail, with a non-parole period of 20 months.

He will be eligible for release in January 2014.
