Eight people have been killed in accidents on Australian roads in the past 24 hours.

Four people have been killed in separate road crashes in southern Queensland, while accidents have claimed three lives in Victoria and one in Western Australia.

Police say a man died when his car crashed at Dalveen, south of Warwick, about 5:30am (AEST).

A 24-year-old man and two children were also killed when their car left a road south of Jandowae and crashed into a tree about 10:00pm yesterday.

A woman is being flown to the Royal Brisbane Hospital after two cars collided at Caboolture, north of Brisbane, this afternoon. A man is also being taken to hospital.

It was a horror night on Victorian roads too, with three people killed in separate incidents

A man in his 20s died after he was run over at Wandin North.

Police believe he was lying in the centre of the Warburton Highway when he was hit by a car.

At Shepherd’s Flat, north of Ballart, a man in his 50s was killed when his vehicle veered onto the wrong side of the road and slammed into a guard rail.

In a similar incident, a truck driver in his 50s died when his B-double truck crashed into a tree near Wallan, north of Melbourne.

And a driver has died in a car crash on the Mitchell Freeway at Joondalup north of Perth.

Police say the accident happened last night when a utility car apparently changed lanes before crossing the grassed median strip and colliding another utility.

The driver of the car that crossed the medium strip died at the scene.
